Unenviable lunch at The Green Room Bistro

Taste of Kelowna 2011

It's snuck up on me again!  The 22nd Annual Taste of Kelowna is being held tomorrow at the Kelowna Curling Club, 551 Recreation Avenue.  There's a $5.00 entry fee and food tickets are $1.00 each.  From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. you can take your tickets to any of the 45 restaurant booths and you will get to sample their offerings for one or two tickets max.  

Not only is the food great, there is also live music, prizes and proceeds benefit the YMCA-YWCA of the Central Okanagan, Kids Care & the Okanagan Boys & Girls Clubs.  See you there!

Another year has come and gone and it's time once again for Wine and Dine Okanagan.  I'm looking forward to going out with our regular group and just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it!  A quick count shows me that 51 of the top restaurants from Vernon to Penticton will be offering you the opportunity to "Sip, Savour and Save".  Prices range from $15 to $25 to $35 for a three course menu and special pricing is being offered on a selection of local VQA wines.  The savings began yesterday, January 19th and continue for a total of 18 days to the 5th of February.  A quick peek at a few menus has me drooling already... Riccardo's Mediterranean Kitchen in Winfield invites you to "Rock the Casbah" with a tantalizing Moroccan spiced Chicken Soup (mmm I want that recipe!).  Theo's in Penticton caught my attention with their Pistachio ziti, layered noodles and ground meat topped with a creamy Béchamel sauce.  Raudz Regional Table is on my wish list and their Grilled Lamb Sirloin Steak, Whipped potatoes, and Crimini Mushroom Ragout makes me wish I liked lamb!  Here's a list of the participating restaurants, please do go out and enjoy one of them if you get the chance!
